AHK World Conference 2010 complete thanks to HD video conferencing
The 2010 AHK World Conference took place from 7th June, 7 to 9th June, 2010. Being so close to the opening of the FIFA World Cup in South Africa, the AHK managing director for Southern Africa in Johannesburg, Matthias Boddenberg, was not able to take part in the conference in person.
They approached ViDOFON, the visual communication specialist, to "fly" Mr. Boddenberg in. Although there is a video conferencing system there in Johannesburg, this belongs to an older ISDN generation which enables video communication, but is neither able to deliver high definition quality nor maintain a reliable connection.
„In particular at longer video conferences, reliable technology and excellent image quality is of great importance as anything short of this reduces the power of concentration very rapidly", Arwed Plate, VP Sales of ViDOFON AG said, pointing out that high definition is able to deliver an image quality which makes you forget rather quickly that you are only participating via video.
Due to the relatively short implementation time, ViDOFON avoided sending a rental system from Hamburg so as not to jeopardise the event by unexpected import delays. They decided without further ado to make an office in Johannesburg available together with manufacturer and partner LifeSize Communications. Here, the AHK managing director Boddenburg was able to dial into a LifeSize High Definition in Berlin and participate in the conference with absolutely excellent transmission quality.
